Imperial Pitch Black

music: sky_delta
lyrics/vocals: Risa Yuzuki
(Fuurin Kagerou)
circle: Luminaria

The lyrics are based on a poem by Kamutsuke no Mineo:

At Fukakusa,
The cherry trees in the meadows,
Had they any heart at all,
For just this year,
Would bloom in black hues.

It’s about losing a beloved person and them being replaced by the sorrow of the one left behind. (I’ve had the image of it being a sequel of Fuurin Kagerou in mind.)
Spring comes and together with the brilliant, peach-colored cherry blossoms, the memories of the days we spent together are resurrected, although it makes me sick. So they should just be dyed pitch black. The reflection of the flowers on the water’s surface should just be dispersed by the wind and vanish.

shishitemo mada mienu hate ni
utsureru kyoukai ni te o nobashite nagarekuru

The end cannot be seen even when dying.
I reach out for the boundary reflecting you, as it streams into me.

furubita tobira no oku kara
kasureta koe ga tsubuyaita natsukashii namae o
yobiokosareta keshiki futatabi hanahiraku

From within an ancient door,
A husky voice muttered a nostalgic name.
The scenery it awakened is once again blooming.

amatsu kaze yo kanau nara minamo yurasu kiokugoto
haruka tooku kakikeshite okure
kasumidatte nagaki haru kage zo koishiki iro
sumizome ni maichiru sakura

Oh imperial wind, my only wish is for you to sway the surface of my memories,
Drowning them out for me in the far distance.
Haze rises in a long spring, dyeing the shadows in colors of loss.
Pitch black cherry blossoms dance down.

kakuriyo nemureru shijima ni
kano hito shinoburu yoi no harusame sode nurashi
chirinuru sugata wa itsudemo
senmei ni kizuato o nurikaete wa misetsukeru
tagaeta michi no saki o utagau koto wa naku

Asleep in the stillness of afterlife,
That person remembers the evening drizzle in spring wetting their sleeves.
Their scattering figure is always
Vividly repainting my scars, making them visible to me again.
There’s no possibility for me to doubt what lays ahead my altered path.

amatsu sora no doko e kiyu amata no nami no manimani
ai omo wa de hanarenuru sadame yo
chitabi no kagiri o hetemo koiwataru no naraba
sumizome ni irozuku sakura

You vanish somewhere in the imperial sky, at the mercy of a multitude of waves.
A destiny we cannot distance ourselves from due to our mutual love.
If I keep yearning for you even throughout thousand years,
Paint these cherry blossoms pitch black.

amatsu kaze yo kanau nara minamo yurasu kiokugoto
haruka tooku kakikeshite okure
amatsu sora no doko e kiyu amata no nami no manimani
ai omo wa de hanarenuru sadame yo
chitabi no kagiri o hetemo koiwataru no naraba
sumizome ni irozuku sakura e to

Oh imperial wind, my only wish is for you to sway the surface of my memories,
Drowning them out for me in the far distance.
You vanish somewhere in the imperial sky, at the mercy of a multitude of waves.
A destiny we cannot distance ourselves from due to our mutual love.
If I keep yearning for you even throughout thousand years,
I will head to these cherry blossoms painted pitch black!
