Marks of Sin || Yonder Voice

Marks of Sin

original: 遥か38万キロのボヤージュ/星条旗のピエロ
from: 東方紺珠伝 ~ Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom

arrangement/lyrics: RD-Sounds
vocals: 瑶山百霊 (Yaoshanbailing)
circle: Yonder Voice

Please don’t judge me too hard for my interpretation of the lyrics lol

The written and vocalised lyrics differ at many parts in this song, which creates another layer of understanding. Make sure to read the translation firstly with the sung lyrics and then with the written lyrics. (Both versions are included in this post, but I’ll add a list of the different words here:

1) Clownpiece – Colorless fairy
2) Signature – Mark
3) Place – Hometown
4) Flavor – Ira (one of the seven deadly sins; namely wrath)
5) Clownpiece – Colorless fairy
6) Knowledge – Invida (=Invidia. Another deadly sin; namely envy)
7) Pierrot – Non-colorless (or colorful; I wanted to maintain the lyric’s approach)
8) Pierrot – Non-purity (or impurity; see above)
9) Pierrot – Evil fairy (this word doesn’t actually exist)
10) Figures – Hieroglyphics
11) Thought – Spervia (=Superbia. Another deadly sin; namely pride)

Please note that Ira, Invidia and Superbia are only interpretations! I’m sure RD did some spelling mistakes with these words, but I can’t be sure of course. The title of the song (Marks of Sin) is a strong indicator my interpretation could be right though.

Monster Clown || 暁Records

Monster Clown
original: 遥か 38 万キロのヴォヤージュ/星条旗のピエロ [Faraway Voyage of 380,000 Kilometers/Pierrot of the Star-Spangled Banner]
from: 東方紺珠伝 ~ Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom

lyrics/vocals: Stack
album: HELL YEAH!!

Little Clown, you dance.
Little Clown, you laugh.
The swaying flames flicker.
Although there’s no one else here:

,Hey Tagger, I’m here!
Let’s play together, until you break…’

葬~Dear knows~ [Burial ~Dear knows~] || C-CLAYS

«I want to convey the delight of having met you again by playing these tunes alongside my comrades……»

葬~Dear knows~
Burial ~Dear knows~

original: ピュアヒューリーズ~心の在処 [Pure Furies ~ Whereabouts of the Heart]
from: 東方紺珠伝 ~ Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom

arrangement: K2
lyrics: 天音未優 (Amane Myu)
vocals: Luna/Rumico
album: 伝奏 -デンソウ-
circle: C-CLAYS/K2 SOUND

Comment from Amane Myu:
For C-CLAYS to be able to keep its activities for over ten years now is all thanks to everyone. “Densou” was created with the feelings of wanting to go through the past ten years of activity and having new encounters together with everyone.

Furthermore, she recommends listeners to not listen to “densou” and “shinai” seperately, but to listen to them together on shuffle, since she was unable to express everything with just one album!

This is not the typical Junko song, because her anger is not a topic at all. This song is about her successful recovery from the events that led to her going insane.

  1. 兎角 (tokaku) [Rabbit Horns] is a metaphora for something that is actually impossible – like a rabbit having horns.
  2. The Lunarians and also Junko have a strong connection to kegare (impurity) and kegarenaki or junsui (not impure/purity). As ZUN stated in her official profile: “She herself is a being purified by her resentment.”
