Lineage to Demise

music: Powerless
lyrics/vocals: Risa Yuzuki
album: 風凛陽炎 (Fuurin Kagerou)
circle: Luminaria

I’ve never written lyrics for this kind of composition. But I’ve matched the composition and done some trial and error writing to express a large-scaled world view. As a result, I decided to write about a figure constantly pushing onwards in the constant mingling and colliding of different types of justice, to put an end to the cruel history repeating.
It was really difficult to imagine the weight of the obligation, the decision to sacrifice yourself, for the world you want to protect and see come true.

If there had been clubs a long, long time ago…
It surely would’ve been irrelevant if one is human, oni or youkai, and everyone would enjoy music, drink sake and dance until dawn… That is the “Yamato Nadeshiko Dancefloor”.

Together with EmoCosine’s cute composition, I imagine an usually graceful Heian noble woman rolling the sleeves of her juunihitoe up to get fired up as DJ sounds extremely interesting.
The album seems to have a serious mood overall… Is what I thought, so I asked EmoCosine to make a song that is Japanese-styled but cute!

1) A Yamato Nadeshiko is the traditional Japanese ideal of a woman.
2) Traditional Japanese songs usually have some shouts in them that can’t really be translated so I’ve left them the way they are, because it made no sense to me to translate something without actual meaning.
3) Unraimatsu and Fuuraimatsu refer to the Japanese folktale Jugemu, which is about a boy with a ridiculously long name. Unraimatsu and Fuuraimatsu are two of his names.

Murky Reminiscence

music: xi
lyrics/vocals: Risa Yuzuki
album: 風凛陽炎 (Fuurin Kagerou)
circle: Luminaria

Completely contrasting the lovely melody, I chose resentment and hatred as the theme of the lyrics. Exactly because the melody is so beautiful, the song turned out horrifying.
I think the most distinctive one out of all human emotions is such a dark one after all, so writing the lyrics and singing was really fun.

I usually struggle with songs during recording, but this one was the most difficult so far.
xi’s compositions are a challenge for gamers and singers alike… (?)
Of course there’s a meaning behind the lyrics during the prelude and interlude, but this time I kept them secret on purpose.
If I get the chance, maybe I’ll reveal them somewhere someday.

Imperial Pitch Black

music: sky_delta
lyrics/vocals: Risa Yuzuki
album: 風凛陽炎 (Fuurin Kagerou)
circle: Luminaria

The lyrics are based on a poem by Kamutsuke no Mineo:

At Fukakusa,
The cherry trees in the meadows,
Had they any heart at all,
For just this year,
Would bloom in black hues.

It’s about losing a beloved person and them being replaced by the sorrow of the one left behind. (I’ve had the image of it being a sequel of Fuurin Kagerou in mind.)
Spring comes and together with the brilliant, peach-colored cherry blossoms, the memories of the days we spent together are resurrected, although it makes me sick. So they should just be dyed pitch black. The reflection of the flowers on the water’s surface should just be dispersed by the wind and vanish.

Cool Heat Haze

music: BlackY
lyrics/vocals: Risa Yuzuki
album: 風凛陽炎 (Fuurin Kagerou)
circle: Luminaria

“In a life as short as that of a cherry blossom, I’m not granted to live besides the person I love, yet I can bloom in full glory for the moment and be reborn to bloom besides you where I belong again even if I am to die now.” It’s this type of song. I tried to express the belief enclosed in ephemerality and beauty.

While the lyrics are extremely beautiful, it was quite a new experience for me to translate traditional Japanese! Once you kind of understand how it works, it’s not that difficult anymore though.

The song is part of the mobile game “SEVEN’s CODE” which also got an international release a while back. I tried it out and personally didn’t enjoy it much, because the free version is very limited, but maybe you’ll like it!
