Records

NAKEDKARMA

[Shoutoku Legend ~ True Administrator/Starry Sky of Small Desires]

arrangement: Stack Bros.
lyrics/vocals: Stack
album: Shout It Out Loud!!!
circle: 暁Records

A friend liked this song a lot, so I altered my priorities list a bit!
I’ve romanized the title NAKEDKARMA instead of simply Naked Karma because it’s written like that in the lyrics.

Desires are karma, and craving is destiny.
The exposed desires are ugly, yet lovely, and might even alter fate.

Again, a single star burns out in the sky.
And while it does, it is the most radiant one…

A Superficial Dream

original: 竹取飛翔 ~ Lunatic Princess [Flight of the Bamboo Cutter ~ Lunatic Princess]

arrangement: Stack Bros.
lyrics/vocals: Stack
album: Shout It Out Loud!!!
circle: 暁Records

This song is paired with Unfulfilled Promise.

Asaki Yumemishi is the forelast line from the Iroha Poem:

iro wa nioedo
chirinuru o
wa ga yo dare zo
tsune naran
ui no okuyama
kyou koete
asaki yumemiji
yoi mo sezu

Here is the Wikipedia article on the poem as well as a translation of it.

Once you speak out “this is eternity”, it will become a lie.
So… say it, over and over again.
“I will be with you for eternity.”

You and I are under the never setting sun and in the never ending night.
Let us make a promise that will remain unfulfilled…

Supernatural Border

original: 幽雅に咲かせ、墨染の桜 ~ Border of Life [Bloom Nobly, Cherry Blossoms of Sumizome ~ Border of Life]
from: 東方妖々夢 ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom

arrangement: Stack Bros.
lyrics/vocals: Stack
album: Shout It Out Loud!!!
circle: 暁Records

Last Destiny was the first Akatsuki song I listened to and it still gives me the chills. Listening to it now, I can’t believe how far I’ve come. Also listening to Supernatural Border, I can’t believe how far Stack has come! I’ve always thought she is an amazing singer, but her voice has become far more stronger and powerful over the years.

“Negawaku wa hana no shita nite haru shinamu/sono kisaragi no mochizuki no koro” is a poem by Saigyou Hoshi. Thus, “If I’m granted one wish: ‘To die under the flowers in spring.'” is a reference to that.
Several possible translations for the poem can be found online, but to add mine to the party:

I pray I may die under the flowers in spring
During the full moon of February.

Someone is crying.
The memories resting upon a carpet of blood-stained cherry blossoms are as peaceful, and yet sorrowful, as a pair of lovers that ended their lives together.
‘I hope to die under the flowers in spring.’
──Who is the one ending it with this noble song?

THE FIRST GALE OF SPRING || 暁Records

THE FIRST GALE OF SPRING

[Last Remote]

arrangement: Stack Bros.
lyrics/vocals: Stack
album: Money Money
circle: 暁Records

“I’ll go on living even if nobody acknowledges it.
Even if I decided to discard this world… It doesn’t matter.

I ride on the first strong waves of the east wind.”

-Stack

“Gale” is another word for “strong wind”. As you may have noticed, this song is about Sanae and not Koishi. I don’t really know why people got that idea anyways.
Oh and by the way: hyururu is a Japanese onomatopoeia for “woosh”. Fitting for wind, isn’t it?

koe mo agerarezu ni fumitsubusareru tame dake ni
umareta inochi mo aru hazu da nante watashi wa mitomenai
kanashimi no mukou ga mata tsugi no hiai nante

“There ought to be lives that exist only to be trampled on
Without shouting for help.” I won’t acknowledge such ideas.
If we are destined to meet with another sorrow
After we surpass the first, I believe there is no God.

korizu ningen o youkai o kami o shinjite shimau no sa

Even a sudden ray of light feels like a forceful revelation.
I began to believe in humans, youkai and Gods without losing hope.

Shout out!!! The feelings you can’t put into words.
So that they’ll reach the sky, the depths and the universe. Gate! Gate!
Paragate! We go with maximum volume.
We wreck it and shout it out loud!!!

Kind people are kinder than anyone else, (They’re always kind,)
But that’s not because they love humans. (No one believes that.)
It’s because they decided they won’t love anyone ever.
Mean people are meaner than anyone else, (They’re meaner than anyone else,)
But that’s not because they hate humans. (I want to believe someone.)
It’s because they decided to not leave anyone behind.

We let go of our feelings as soon as we put them into words,
So I want to convey my overflowing passion in form of sound.

Scream out!!! Don’t put your feelings into words.
So that they’ll break through your head and reach the universe. Shout It Out Loud!!!
Even if you shed tears, don’t kill your voice. Here we go!!
We wreck it and shout it out loud!!!

sorezore kami no kakera

Before your heart stops, before your voice breaks off,
Before you disappear, shout out “I’m here”.
If you’re crying by yourself, call us.
We can sing together. We’ll even wipe your tears.
Because everyone is lonely, because humans are lonely,
We get involved with others. Because we’re desolate,
Our souls attract each other and become one big soul.
Each and every one is a part of God.

watashi-tachi wa yowaku hakanainda da kara, kowareru made sakebunda

If we gather the solitude scattered about the night sky, it’ll become a lovely light of salvation.
Shout It Out!!! Because we’re weak and fragile, we scream out until we break.

Please note that the booklet had only the recipes written in it and not the actual lyrics!

Thanks a lot to the person/people responsible for the Touhou-Kashi wiki for this transcription of the actual lyrics! (I corrected a few parts though)

  1. 9★ restaurant is a reference to usual restaurant stars indicating how good they are rated. (The more stars, the better the kitchen.)
  2. 十八番 (juu-hachi-ban) literally translates to 18th, but it also means “speciality”. Thus the pun:
juu-kyuu… ja nakute, juu-hachi-ban” (“My 19th… no, my 18th (speciality)”)
  3. The “magic box” is a microwave.
  4. Marisa is a drug dealer.
  5. In the last recipe, it says “happa”. This means leaves but also explosives. Another pun.

Lyrics written like this were not given in the booklet.

1) “N.Y.U.D.O” is a play of words. It’s short for “Nyorai, Yourself, Universe, Dharma, Om” as seen in the first stanza of the song but it also refers to a person completely devoted to Buddha’s path.
2) “Nyorai” is the Japanese term for Buddha.
3) “Dharmah” is the eternal law of the cosmos.
4) “Mihotoke” is another term for Buddha (Amida Buddha to be specific).
5) “Namusan” is short for namusanbou which can be translated to “Hail to the three treasures of Buddhism” (Buddha, Dharmah and Sangha).

This song is very soothing and easy to listen to. I really like these kind of calm songs that have a country-vibe to them. They always make me think about summer.

Funnily enough, the song for the new Crest album I’ve written called “Morgen geht die Sonne auf” [Sun will rise again] is a German saying with the same message as the song wants to convey.
